What should be my next move...

My job has recently decided to cut my hrs in half. There by my monthly gross income has been cut in half as well. I work 5pm to 9pm Mon thru Fri. My old hrs were 5pm to 9pm. I've decided to write my boss a letter explaining my situation, lack of gross income and see if perhaps he reconsiders and puts me back on my old schedule. I've thought about these online work at your own leisure jobs but I'm very hesitant in proceeding with one of these and falling into a scam. Not sure if one of these would be the answer I'm looking for if my boss doesn't agree to put me back on my old hrs of employment. I appreciate any feedback to my issue here.
