Should I leave him alone & forget him, or keep trying it's worth it?

So long story short I met this guy at a dance and we talked over text but he stopped texting me. When we met he texted first then the next day I did. He said i'm not annoying, but he has signs that he wants me to leave him alone. He seems like a great guy no matter what everyone says about him. He's nice if I spoke to him in person. I always chicken when I see him, help me decide what to do. +I normally text him first, i stopped for a week then started again & whenever we speak i ask him something he replies but doesn't ask wbu or hbu or anything like that. What should I do? Is it worth texting him first or walking up to him in person and starting a conversation, what? Please help, i really like him & it's difficult to get over him -.-; i have no classes with him but i see him after school on Mondays & when he leaves his spanish class. Thank you
